Dental Implants At Apex Dental

Dental implants are a major innovation in restorative dentistry and we are proud to offer this transformational treatment here at Apex Dental. Within the last 10 years dental implant technology has advanced greatly, and it is now thought to be the cutting edge in tooth replacement solutions.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

Dental implants are precision devices made from titanium which are placed in the jaw bone that effectively replace a tooth root, providing a secure base for a replacement tooth, such as a crown. Titanium is well tolerated by the body and once implanted supports bone growth.

Dental Implants are an ideal solution for replacing Missing Teeth, Bridges or Dentures, and provide a safe alternative treatment.

Dental implants can support one tooth, or an entire arch of teeth and are usually placed with the hope that with effective maintenance and a healthy lifestyle, you will have them for life!

Does it Hurt?

No. Dental Implant surgery is extremely precise with minimal trauma. Following treatment you will be sent home with a comprehensive after –care plan in order for you to recover rapidly. You will also be asked to come back regularly for progress checks.

Why not go abroad for implants?

In general, dental treatment including Dental Implants may be cheaper abroad however it also carries potential risks.

You are unable to guarantee that the training, materials and techniques used are equivalent to those in the UK, and importantly there is little or no after care without further visits.

At Apex Dental Care we guarantee the highest level of treatment by our highly trained team with comprehensive aftercare and regular check ups and hygiene for years after the procedure.

Assessing Your Suitability For Implants

Before you can have implant treatment we must perform a thorough consultation to ensure you are suitable for the treatment. It is an invasive procedure and it is important that you understand the treatment process. It is a wonderful solution to missing teeth however , unfortunately not everybody is suitable for the treatment. Your Surgeon will discuss with you the pros and cons of treatment and alternative treatments if you are not suitable for dental implants.

The Implant Treatment Process

Implant treatment generally involves the following stages:

Consultation – comprehensive examination to ensure you are suitable for implant treatment and discuss what the treatment involves, answering any questions you may have. The consultation process may involve diagnostics such as X-rays and scans.

Templates - we will take a model of the area of your mouth that requires the implants so that we can plan the implant placement accurately.

Bone Augmentation - if there is bone loss we can offer treatments to rebuild the bone, so there is somewhere stable for the implant to be placed.

Placement - with effective local anaesthetic and sedation if requested, we prepare your jaw and then place your implants.

Integration - following the placement of the implants, the bone and titanium implant have to bond together, which can take 3-6 months. Following this time the top of the implant is exposed with a small dental procedure so that the gum can heal in time for the final stage.

Final Stage - finally the crown or replacement teeth are attached to the implant(s) so that you have your final set of secure, aesthetically pleasing teeth!

Following the final stage of your treatment, we will discuss aftercare and maintenance with you, as well as lifestyle changes we recommend to ensure the implants remain secure and healthy.

Dental Implants are not available on the NHS.
